I grew up on a hill-country sheep farm in Taranaki,
New Zealand. Mount Taranaki dominates the landscape and it is said, "If
you can see the mountain it is going to rain and if can't see it, it is
raining!" For the previous 10 years I have lived in Christchurch, on
the east coast of the South Island. There is much less rain in Christchurch!
It is home to many people doing cool stuff (e.g. ARANZ).
Christchurch is also where Rousseau and Descartes grew up. I cannot have
them with me on-campus at Tufts so, while I am at Tufts, they are living
in Sydney Australia.
